HISTORY

Hillcrest Care Center, now Hillcrest Health & Rehab, opened its doors in 1967. In 1989, Jolene Roberts acquired Hillcrest Care Center — the first of many Hillcrest communities. Roberts’ vision transcended a single nursing facility; she aimed to establish a comprehensive continuum of health services for aging adults, ensuring a seamless transition between various care options without compromising continuity.

Today, Hillcrest Health & Living (formerly Hillcrest Health Services) stands as a pioneer in innovative aging adult services across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. Its integrated system encompasses assisted living, memory care, independent living, adult day services, skilled home health, in-home personal care, inpatient rehabilitation and hospice care. Hillcrest also offers diverse senior housing options, including garden homes and apartments, for active adult living. Hillcrest extends its services through outpatient therapy provided by Innovate Physical Therapy at two Omaha-area clinics.

In 2021, Hillcrest underwent operational restructuring, leading to the establishment of Hillcrest Real Estate Development (HRED). Managing 16 properties, all currently operated by Hillcrest Health & Living, HRED aims for further growth in this sector. Roberts serves as President of HRED, alongside Todd Aerni, who holds the position of Vice President of Real Estate Development.
